In English please!

Hi there English speakers,
My two sisters have been reminding me of the importance of blogging my adventures on my charity challenge in English, so here goes. Advantages and disadvantages of being a polyglot!
My body is developing an allergy to chlorine, as I'm swimming longer and faster than ever. I train with triathletes in the pool in Guadassuar, on my way to work, Mondays and Wednesdays. I'm trying to swim in the sea instead in Denia on Monday morning, but this isn't always possible.

This morning for example, I simply couldn't move after my rest day. I'd done nearly the whole book of exercises from "Triathlon Anatomy" on Friday and Saturday in the gym. The dull pain in my core and extremities just hadn't gone away. My legs still ached from pushing hard in a 10k in Teulada on Saturday. I did 53 minutes, after just warming up for the first 3k, so it's more like 52 minutes.

I could hear the wind howling outside - "The sea will be choppy", I thought. "I'd better stay in bed and breath deeply into my sore muscles. Mindfullness over muscularity this morning, my friend!"
When you give yourself a "holiday" like this, you often feel guilty, but I think it's really important to listen to your body. After all, I had trained 6 days in a row last week for the first time in my life, so why shouldn't I rest 2 days instead of 1? Having said that, I immeditely resolved to run 10 slow kilometres tonight after work. That made me feel better!

It seems like a long time ago, but I acually swam 4k non-stop on the first part of my charity challenge. My swimming instructor was swimming too, and told me that the buoys had moved in the choppy sea, so he, an expert sea swimmer, had actually swum 4.8kin 1 hour 10 minutes! So, I probably swam closer to 5k in my time, 2 hours 20 minutes! Looking back on it, it wasn't really that difficult, but in hindsight everything seems easy. I was swimming on my own, just willing the next buoy to appear next to me, one after another. If it weren't for the psychological kick of an energy gel from up the sleeve of my wetsuit with 1k to go, it would have been much harder. Apple gel never tasted sweeter! Swimming is only aerobic pain, concentration on technique and mental strength. I have lots of the latter from running 2 marathons. When my running colleagues say to me that 2h20m is a long time to be swimming, I just answer that 4 hours is a long time to be running!

My old passion, cycling, is also reentering my veins at great speed. I cycle to work on Tuesday and Thursday morning at a cruise speed of 27-28km/h, and crank it up on an abandoned industrial estate to 40km/h on the big chainwheel. I hadn't pushed big gears like this since I was 18 years old, when I did an 8-day, 11-stage tour - The Junior Tour of Ireland.

I didn't do my triathlon debut last Sunday as I simply did too much the day before and could only sleep 2 hours. If I had slept 4 hours, I would have gone, but I didn't want to do my first triathlon like one of the Walking Dead. That could have put me off it for ever! So my debut is this Sunday in Alicante. I'll certainly be stronger after the hard 6-day block of training last week:

Day 1 - sea swim 1,500k in 40 minutes + run 5k at 12.2 km/h in 3 intervals
Day 2 - cycle 15k at 28km/h with 2k interval at 40km/h (twice)
Day 3 - swimming technique in pool - 2k in 40 minutes + 10k trail run in 1 hour 10 minutes
Day 4 - As day 2
Day 5 - Around 30 gym exercises to strengthen arms, shoulders and chest
Day 6 - Again, around 30 gym exercises for core, back and neck strength + 10 k race
Day 7 - Spa, stretch, sleep and generally feel sorry for myself!

I reckon my triathlon debut, if everything goes well, will pan out like this:
1,5k sea swim - 40 minutes (2'40"/100m)
Transition 1 - 2 minutes
40k cycle - 1h 20m (30km/h)
Transition 2 - 2 minutes
10k run - 55 minutes (5:30 m/km)
Finishing time - 2 hours 59 minutes

My doubt is if I can sustain 30km/h on the bike for 1h 20m. The course is flat, so I'll just have to suck wheels like in the old days!
